SEED
Sustainable events for education and development
About
As envisioned by the European Green Deal, education plays a significant role in developing sustainable habits by pushing us to evaluate our activities with a transformative approach. One of the cornerstones to saving our world is to promote sustainable consumption and production, sustainable resource management, and immediate action against climate change. There is a significant relationship between human activity and climate, which can have a substantial effect on greenhouse gas emissions (Agenda 2030 for sustainable development).
Nonetheless, there are still a number of challenges to promoting climate change awareness. It fails to overcome emotional barriers and generate behavioural change due to the absence of a compelling narrative and personal involvement in everyday sustainability. SEED aims to bring a sustainable component to teachers' and students' school event experiences and give them with the skills necessary to conduct future events with a high quality of sustainability.
According to the United Nations, a sustainable event is one that meets two objectives: minimising all potential negative environmental impacts and leaving a positive legacy for the host community and all participants.
Planning a sustainable event is an act of environmental and personal responsibility. Businesses who select this type of event indicate a strong commitment to equal opportunity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability. In addition, they contribute to the improvement of transparency and the recognition of stakeholders as relevant players. It is a work that involves extensive planning and coordination to achieve particular goals and activities that are routinely examined and then confirmed by authorised agencies.
